Congressman Waxman to Speak in Thousand Oaks on September 16

September 7, 2007 · Comments Off

Congressman Henry A. Waxman will be visiting Thousand Oaks on Sunday, September 16 at the invitation of the Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley. Waxman will deliver a speech titled “Congressional Oversight—Essential to the Health of the Nation.”

The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Conejo Recreation and Parks Community Room at 403 W. Hillcrest Dr. and is free to the public. No tickets or reservations are required.

Waxman is chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. He has been tireless in holding the Bush administration to account for its numerous misdeeds, from its lack of oversight of contractors supporting the Iraq war effort to its watering down of an ad campaign designed to promote breastfeeding at the request of infant-formula lobbyists.

The congressman’s speech should be invigorating. Many Americans are tired of the administration’s political underhandedness and demand greater accountability from our government.

Waxman represents California’s 30th congressional district, which includes the cities of Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Westlake Village, and other cities in the west Los Angeles area.
